A great many thanks to all participants and speakers for a highly succesfull symposium!
Symposium
Many high-tech startups were initiated at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the last years. Knowledge valorisation, or making money with research results, has become an important topic for universities.
The symposium showcased the possibilities for starting up in a university environment and the initiatives undertaken at the Eindhoven University.
Program overview
Several starters from the faculty of Mechanical Engineering presented their company and the process of starting up, including Xpress Precision Engineering B.V., as well as prominent national and international speakers.
International speakers included professor Stuart Smith, from the University of North Carolina (USA), and Bart van Coppenolle, founder and director of Metris (BE). Metris started at the KU Leuven and is currently listed on the Euronext Brussels stock exhange. In 2006 Metris was awarded 'company of the year 2006, Belgium' by Ernst & Young.
